The J. Edgar Hoover biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio will hit limited theaters this November, while Sandra Bullock starrer 'Gravity' is slated for November 2012 release.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures has announced release date for upcoming biopic "J. Edgar", which has Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role with Clint Eastwood serving behind the lens. The movie is scheduled for limited release on November 9, before expanding to theaters across the U.S. on November 11. On its wide release date, it will face up against "Immortals", "Jack and Jill", "11-11-11" and "Melancholia" which is set for limited release.
"J. Edgar", which is also starring Naomi Watts, Armie Hammer and Josh Lucas, revolves around the public as well as personal life of a controversial FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover. This pic has been predicted to become a strong Oscar contender.
The studio has also locked November 21, 2012 as a release date for Alfonso Cuaron-directed sci-fi thriller "Gravity". Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the movie follows a sole surviving human member of a space mission who is desperately trying to return home to Earth. With the release date, it will go up against "47 Ronin" and "Rise of the Guardians".
Another Bullock-starring movie "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", meanwhile, is set to hit limited U.S. theaters on Christmas before opening wide on January 20, 2012. The drama centers on a nine-year-old boy whose father died in the 9/11 attack. Directed by Stephen Daldry, the film also has Tom Hanks and John Goodman in the cast ensemble.
Warner Bros. additionally has given a new release date for "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island". Previously slated for January 27, 2012 release, the follow-up to "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" is pushed back to February 10 of the same year. The adventure movie will go head-to-head with "Safe House", "The Vow" and a 3D re-release of 1999's "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace".
