Daniel Baldwin's estranged wife won't be able to breathe free air for awhile. A day after she got arrested in Portland, Oregon for a probation violation, it was reported that Joanne Smith will remain in jail until July 20 when she is scheduled to appear for a hearing in Lake Oswego Municipal Court.

A spokeswoman for the Lake Oswego Police Department said that Joanne turned herself into the Lake Oswego Police Department on Wednesday, July 13. She was booked on charges that are listed as "PROBATION VIOLATION DRIVING UNDER INFL OF INTOX," before being transferred to Clackamas County Jail, where she was arraigned at about 5 P.M.

Hours before news of Joanne's arrest broke out, her husband Daniel filed for divorce. In a statement about the separation, he said, "Due to recent events in our home and for the safety of my children and myself, I have made this decision. I have had my share of problems with drugs and alcohol many years ago and know first hand how difficult a position she is in."

The 50-year-old actor has also got a restraining order against Joanne and the temporary custody of their two young daughters, Avis Ann and Finley Rae Martineau. In his petition for the restraining order, he claimed that his wife of four years had made multiple threats to kill him in front of their children.
