After winning the fifth season of "America's Got Talent", Michael Grimm has now won his lover's heart. Michael, who sang "When a Man Loves a Woman" during Tuesday's, September 14 finals, proposed to girlfriend of three years, Lucy Zolcerova, during the taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Thursday, September 16, People reported.
Michael revealed his plans to wed Lucy and said that she was the inspiration for his final performance. During the show, which will be aired on Friday, September 17, Michael told Ellen DeGeneres, "She's been there for me. Once you find that good woman you hang on to her."
According to the site, Ellen asked Lucy, who was among the audience, to join them, with Michael later getting down on one knee to pop the question. And it turned out that Lucy was as happy as Michael as she said yes to the proposal.
His proposal aside, Michael admitted that he was shocked to learn he won the talent show, fighting off Baroque drag performer Prince Poppycock, frat pack performance troupe Fighting Gravity and 10-year-old opera-singing prodigy runner-up Jackie Evancho. "I was very surprised. I mean, I really didn't expect to make it all the way to the end," he told Entertainment Weekly.
"To be next to Jackie in the final two there, I knew it was over for me, because Jackie - she's just a powerhouse. And I knew for sure she had it, but it was a big surprise to me when they called my name out. I was prepared to bow out gracefully!" Michael added.
Now that he won $1 million and one year contract to headline in Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael said that he plans to buy his grandparents a house. On where he will buy them a house, the Mississippi blues singer told the site, "It will be back in Hancock County, Miss., of Pearl River County, where she currently lives."
