"Saturday Night Live" has to say goodbye to one of its students again. Will Forte, whose portrayal of MacGruber made him famous and spawned a movie version, announced his graduation from the variety show to pursue other projects.

Effective from the 36th season this Fall, Forte will not join his friends in the sketches. "After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from 'SNL' to pursue new opportunities. He is eternally grateful to [producer Michael] Lorne and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years," an e-mail from his representative reads.

"SNL" has been the platforms for struggling comedians in their early days. Among the famous alumni are Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon. These stars often come back for a sketch or two in special episodes, therefore Forte is also expected to re-appear on the show at some point.

Regarding replacement, NBC declined to comment on any of the rumors which included the hiring of "Mad TV" star Taran Killam. The deals with the newbies are expected to conclude after the Labor Day Holiday, NY Times reported.
