This so-called 'U.K.'s answer to Ne-Yo' sets his eyes to conquer U.S. with his American debut single, 'Down', already among the top ten singles on Billboard Hot 100.

AceShowbiz - Already having several hit singles sitting on the top ten of U.K. Singles chart, Jay Sean is gearing up to conquer U.S. The singer who is called "the U.K.'s answer to Ne-Yo" was signed to Cash Money and has dropped an American debut single titled "Down". Featuring Lil Wayne on the hook, the track reached number 6 on Billboard Hot 100.

Beside lingering on the top ten of the U.S. Singles chart, this song also peaked at the second spot of iTunes Top 10 Songs chart. Moreover, it becomes the #1 most added track on U.S. radios, beating other hit singles from the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Young Money and Sean Paul. Its music video has been outed for quite some time, having Sean sharing screen with Weezy.

"It's absolutely crazy," Sean told MTV concerning the song's impressive chart performance. "I've been out there in the States for a good six or seven months, and with my song coming in at #2 on iTunes, all my best friends came up to London to be with me for a little holiday."

"And we were all sitting in my car and I opened up my e-mail and it said 'Jay Sean in at #6 on Billboard.' I just literally screamed and all my boys rolled down the windows and screamed, 'My boy is in at #6!' "

Jay Sean originally planned to re-release his second studio album "My Own Way (2009)" as his first American record with several additions of new songs. In the wake of "Down" success however, he changed his mind and decided to fill the effort with all new materials.

The new studio project is called "All or Nothing" and is expected to be released in America on October 13. Rumor has it, Sean will make a duet with Weezy's protege Drake in this album. "I'm keeping my mouth shut. I love Drake. I think Drake's an unbelievably gifted lyricist and young and fresh. I think it's pretty safe to say that since he's part of the family now, you're gonna see all of us working together: Me, Drake, Wayne Baby and Kevin Rudolph," he said when quizzed about the truth of the swirling report.
