The couple who met through 'Dancing with the Stars' has decided to call it quits and becomes friends instead.

AceShowbiz - Before the news could be spread like wildfire and get carried away, Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough preferred to announce their split personally on August 7. Through their respective Twitter accounts, they posted, "Hi everyone-we wanted you all to know directly from us that Derek & I have decided to end our relationship as boyfriend & girlfriend" and vice versa.
There was no reason mentioned about the separation. "However, we love & care about each other very much & will remain friends & in each other's lives," the second post is read. Receiving words of sympathy from fans and friends, Elizabeth added hours later, "Thank you everyone for all your sweet words & encouragement-it really means a lot to me! Xoxo"
Derek Hough became acquainted to Shannon Elizabeth in the sixth season of "Dancing with the Stars". Hough, who is the brother of Julianne Hough, is the professional dancer partnered with Elizabeth. They finished seventh place and began dating since.
