'Gossip Girl' hunk Penn Badgley tries to uncover the mystery behind the man who is set to become his stepfather in this remake of the 1987 thriller film.

"The Stepfather", a remake to the '80s thriller film of the same name, has got itself a brand new trailer. After previously being leaked online, the trailer is now officially released through MySpace. It shares a sneak peek on how Penn Badgley's Michael Harding starts to be suspicious of his future stepfather, David.
Coming home from military school, Michael finds his mother happily in love and living with her new boyfriend, David. While everybody in the family thinks of David as a "family values" man, Michael becomes more and more suspicious of him as they get to know each other. Along with his girlfriend Kelly and his mother's friends, he begins to puzzle together the truth behind the man who is set to be his stepfather.
To be distributed by Screen Gems in the U.S. on October 16, "The Stepfather" comes from the man behind another thriller movie "Prom Night", Nelson McCormick. Aside from "Gossip Girl" actor Penn Badgley, it also features the likes of Dylan Walsh, Amber Heard, Sela Ward, Sherry Stringfield and Paige Turco.
