The reality show about Jennifer Lopez and her family has been shelved while hopes are channeled to the show about Jon and Kate Gosselin and their 8 young kids.

AceShowbiz - The rating jolt of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" partly contributes to the terminated plan to air Jennifer Lopez's reality show. As reported by TMZ, the singer was scheduled to have a show that follows her personal life with husband Marc Anthony but then TLC decides not to pick it up due to boring concept.

It is reported that execs want J.Lo and Marc to show off their twin babies on screen for the sake of the show's rating but both have declined the request in order to shield their kids from publicity. Instead, J.Lo wanted to focus it on her creation of new fragrance and its behind the scenes. A source from TLC said, "It was on life support for awhile, and now we've just lost interest."

Meanwhile, the cable network is eying to increase the number of episodes for "Jon & Kate Plus 8" now that the show has pulled in 9.8 million viewers in its season 5 premiere. TLC wants 40 episodes for the fifth season, double that of the initial order. "The show's ratings have grown consistently, as there has been interest in these real-life issues of this real-life family," TLC told E! News on Wednesday, May 27. "We will continue to air as the interest continues, and the family wants to do it."
