"It is still strange ..... I just don't get the immediate-recognition thing," says Robert Pattinson when talking about his new found fame after starring in "Twilight."

AceShowbiz - Making his rounds at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, Robert Pattinson admits he is still getting used to the fact that his face is very familiar among many people. "It is still strange," said the movie heartthrob on Tuesday, May 19. "I just don't get the immediate-recognition thing. I was at the Frankfurt airport yesterday, and people just immediately know who you are. It's never, 'Are you ...?' It's just like, 'Can I have a photo?'"

Planning to see Quentin Tarantino's drama-action movie "Inglourious Basterds," which is one of the festival's In Competition movies, Robert is expected to be in Italy on Friday, May 22 for the production of "Twilight" sequel, "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". In anticipation of the filming, producers reportedly have hired security guards to prevent fans from getting too close to the British heartthrob.

Robert himself, in fact, doesn't feel the need to be protected by the guards. "They had tons of security, but then at the end of the day actually, hardly anyone knew where we were shooting," he said. "I'm walking around with, like, three guys following me around all the time, and no one ever turned up. There was never any infiltrators."

Robert Pattinson was seen arriving in Nice, France to attend the 2009 Cannes Film Festival on Monday afternoon, May 18. He was photographed signing autograph for awaiting fans as he made his way out of the airport.
