Basketball player Candace Parker is a first time mother now that she has given birth to a baby girl on Wednesday, May 13 in Los Angeles. The infant was born at 11:29 A.M. and weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz. She was 20 inches long.

Confirming the good news, Candace issued a press release saying she and husband Shelden Williams, who is also a basketball player, "are thrilled" with the arrival of their first child. "We are very excited to be expanding our family. This is such a life changing moment for us, we feel blessed to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl," she gushed.

As of press time, Candace and Shelden won't make public the name of their baby. They reportedly want to share the news with both sides of the family and close friends first before then sharing it with the public.

In related news, Candace plans to rejoin her team, Los Angeles Sparks, once she gets a green light from her doctor to step her feet back on the court for the Women's National Basketball Association's next season which will be kicked off on June 6.
