Angelina Jolie Could Be Stepping Closer to 'Sin City 2'
Movie

Words on the street are, 'Wanted' beauty Angelina Jolie is in 'serious talks' to star opposite Clive Owen in Robert Rodriguez's 'Sin City' sequel.

While she has mentioned her doubt on nailing a role in "Sin City 2" earlier, Angelina Jolie is reported to be one step closer to join the cast ensemble of the "Sin City" sequel. Moviehole reported a rather high-profile producer friend has claimed that the "Wanted (2008)" star is in "serious talks" to star in the movie.

The 33-year-old actress has long been linked to the sequel project which is said to be the adaptation of "A Dame to Kill For". If she is indeed tapped as one of the cast members, Jolie is likely to take on the role of Ava Lord, the former flame of Dwight McCarthy and will star opposite Clive Owen since he is "loosely attached" to reprise his role as McCarthy.

In mid-2008, the Christine Collins of "Changeling" has confessed to MTV that she still hasn't made any decision on the Ava role. "I don't know," the star of "Beowulf" stated at the time. "I found the first 'Sin City' impressive, but I don't know what they're going to do with the next one to make [it] as original as the first one. I'd be curious. I think he's a genius."

In another "Sin City 2" news, The Weinstein Company (TWC) have come up with a response to the rumor of them losing rights to the project. "TWC's rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been," the studio's attorney Bert Fields issued this statement. "Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash."

Expected to be finished for 2010 release, "Sin City 2" is said to be adapted from Frank Miller's "A Dame to Kill For". It offers the early story of Dwight McCarthy when Ava Lord, his former lover, returns to his life with a dark intention forcing him to face all sorts of problems. Aside from Clive Owen, the sequel expects to see some of the original actors, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke and Michael Clarke Duncan, returning.
