Kelly Rowland has left Columbia Records on her own will, insisting the need to 'explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside [her] comfort zone.'

AceShowbiz - Rumor that Kelly Rowland has been dropped by her record label, Columbia Records is proven to be untrue as the R&B singer says that she has moved out from the label on her own will. Regarding the reason behind her decision, she claims the need to "explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside [her] comfort zone."

"Because Columbia Records has been my home base as an artist for more than a decade, the decision to move out on my own required a lot of soul-searching," Kelly explains. "As a solo artist, I felt the need to explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside my comfort zone and my friends and family at Columbia have been incredibly understanding about my evolution."

In line with Kelly's statement, Columbia/Epic CEO Rob Stringer confirms that "the decision for Kelly to seek other opportunities for her solo career was agreed upon mutually, and any reports to the contrary are false." He also shares his thought for having been able to work with Kelly since 1997, saying, "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with Kelly. We will continue our working relationship with her under the Destiny's Child moniker."

There hasn't been any word concerning the "new directions" Kelly will take. It is also unclear whether or not she will find a new home to release her third studio album, which was supposed to be dropped via Columbia later this year.
