"Terminator Salvation" director McG has revealed his interest of signing Radiohead's lead singer Thom Yorke to craft songs for his upcoming action Sci-Fi movie. He broke the news during 2009 New York Comic-Con, which was held from February 6-8.
During the event, McG said to have considered handing over the entire score to Gustavo Santaolalla, whose songs in "Brokeback Mountain" and "Babel" received Academy Awards, and Thom. "We talked about Gustavo getting with Thom Yorke from Radiohead, which I thought would be a very interesting combination," so he stated.
Though interested to work with Thom and Gustavo for his movie's soundtrack, McG admitted that he has signed Danny Elfman, the man behind "Notorious" and "Milk" theme songs. On his decision, he said to need "someone who understood film as a whole and understood the delicate nature of humanity and the brutality of the machines."
However, his desire to include Thom and Gustavo in the soundtrack of his movie, which is due for U.S. release on May 21, hasn't been put off. He noted as saying, "They still may do a couple of sounds for the movie."
Thom Yorke himself is set to tour with Radiohead, beginning on March 15 at Foro Sol, Mexico. After that, he will continue hitting the road for at least six months and perform at several live gigs in Japan in October. The band's complete tour dates can be checked on their official website.
