Publicly revealing his love for sex and his tendency "to get compulsive about anything sensual," Russell Brand says he is getting bored of random sexual encounters and is considering to ditch the habit in order to embrace a fuller and happier life. "I've burned out drugs. I'm burning out sex," so he has been quoted as telling GQ magazine.
"I'm really getting tired of materialism. I don't reckon I've got more than two or three years," he admits. "I don't even know what I'm doing yet. I'm not ready. I've got to be in a position where they can't go, 'Didn't he f**k* that stripper? Didn't he go to that lap-dancing club?'"
The British actor, furthermore, tells the publication, "There can't be any of that around. That's all got to go-until I'm in a position where I can say, 'Look I'm celibate, I'm a vegan. All I do is meditate, come out and do stand-up comedy and make films.'" He adds, "If I'm to find any true happiness I have to devote myself to something bigger than my own ego."
Back in September 2008, Russell Brand was slammed by a number of fellow celebrities for mocking Jonas Brothers' sexual commitment during his hosting gig at the annual MTV VMAs. He suggested that the boys should take advantage of their youth and celebrity status by not taking celibacy vows. He later offered an apology to the singers, saying, "I've gotta say sorry because I said those things about promise rings; that was bad of me. I didn't mean to take it lightly."
