Matthew McConaughey is now father of a baby boy. The actor's girlfriend, Camila Alves gave birth to their first child on Monday, July 7 afternoon in Los Angeles.

A representative of the "Fool's Gold" actor told Us magazine that the baby was delivered at 6:22 P.M. local time, weighing 7 lb., 4 oz. There has been no names revealed yet for the baby.

Despite the actor's previous statement that he wanted to keep the sex of his unborn child a secret, the couple apparently have known it rather early. They were reported to have ordered a number of baby stuffs including T-shirts with the word "Hunk" emblazoned on it from an online baby store called Plainmary.com.

Post parting from actress Penelope Cruz, McConaughey embarked on a relationship with the Brazilian model. He announced the pregnancy in January saying, "We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father, and sheparding him or her through this life."

McConaughey's baby boy shares the same birthday to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's baby girl, Sunday Rose, who was also born on Monday morning.

Update 07/08 : McConaughey released a statement to OK! magazine regarding the newborn. He said, "A healthy baby boy was born. Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world - Having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure - raising one, together."
