Lily Allen has lost her baby. The British pop star suffered a miscarriage Wednesday night, January 16.

Allen and her boyfriend The Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons had just returned home from a holiday in Maldives when she unfortunately lost the baby. The pair reportedly were being comforted by family and friends after the unfortunate.

A representative for Allen did confirm the miscarriage, issued a statement saying "We can confirm that Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we may ask that their privacy be respected during this time."

Meanwhile, a source was quoted as saying that "Lily and Ed are in a state of shock. The bad news has been really difficult for them to take and they are absolutely heartbroken. Lily's entire outlook on life changed after she found out she was pregnant. She was looking forward to being a mum and starting a family with Ed. She had turned her back on her party girl image and had turned over a new leaf. They are surrounded by friends and family are offering support. It is a really difficult time for them."

Lily, famous for her hit single "Smile", exclusively revealed her pregnancy with Ed's baby last December. She apparently gave up partying for the baby's sake and had re-arranged her schedule to fit the baby's upcoming birth.
