Though it was reported that the Bond producers are looking for a South American Bond girl, a rumor saying that the 'St. Trinian' actress nailed the much wanted part has been circulating.

The new Bond girl has allegedly been cast. According to reports from several British newspapers, Gemma Arterton, the actress of "St. Trinian's", has beat out 1,500 other hopefuls to nail the part opposite Daniel Craig in the Bond's new movie, "Bond 22".
To one of the newspapers, an insider at Eon Production leaked the information saying, "Gemma has the modern look and fits perfectly with the new vulnerable image of Bond." Adding to the rumor, another reported that the 22-year-old actress, who was said to have been sworn to secrecy for the role, sent a text message to her mother noting down, "I got Bond!".
In the related news of "Bond 22", it was reported that Craig may have leaked out the title of Bond new movie. Reportedly, in an interview with a U.K. television show, 'This Morning', the "Road to Perdition" star gave out hint that the title might have something to do with a number.
This latest Bond franchise, which will be directed by Marc Forster, will start filming in January. Meanwhile, the cast include Judi Dench, Mathieu Amalric and Anatole Taubman apart from Craig. The action adventure film is expected to hit theaters on November 7, 2008.
UPDATE 12/18/07: On Monday, December 17, EmpireOnline has confirmed that Gemma Arterton is indeed a new Bond girl. According to the site, their trusted source has claimed the rumor to be 100 per cent true. Still, despite the fact that the site assured that the actress got a major role in the movie, they cannot give further details about Arterton's character in the movie.
