Looks like three is still far from enough for both Denzel Washington and Tony Scott. Report from Daily Variety has brought in info that the two are going to work together once again in "The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3" for Columbia Pictures.

Project turns out to be a remake of the 1974 action thriller which was based on the novel by Morton Freedgood who wrote it under the pseudonym John Godey. The original story centers on a New York Transit cop sent to stop a group of terrorists hijacking a subway car for a million dollar ransom. Washington is said to get billed as the cop, played by Walter Matthau in the original.

Assigned to pen the script is David Koepp with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch all producing via their Sony-based Escape Artists shingle. Pic will take place in contemporary New York and is intended for a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2008.

Washington and Scott have thrice made collaborations on the big screen that were in 1995's "Crimson Tide", 2004's "Man of Fire", and 2006's "Deja Vu." The former will next see his latest vehicle "American Gangster" hit the theaters on November 2 this year while the latter recently directed "Trust Metric", the first episode of the fourth season of TV series "Numb3rs" set to be aired this Friday, September 28.
