Hollywood funnyman Eddie Murphy is engaged. The star proposed to girlfriend Tracey Edmonds on Wednesday July 25th, presenting her with a yellow diamond engagement ring.

"Tracey and Eddie were engaged last Wednesday," Edmonds's personal assistant confirms to People. "Tracey and Eddie are both very much in love and are excited about spending the rest of their lives together."

The engagement came only two days after Eddie and Edmonds stepped out at the premiere of "Who's Your Caddy?", which Edmonds produced, Monday July 23rd during which she was spotted sporting a diamond sparkler on her left ring finger, thus prompted engagement speculation. "No, this isn't an engagement ring," Eddie said at that time. "If I were gonna do an engagement ring, it would be much bigger."

Eddie married Nicole Mitchell in 1993 in a lavish ceremony that made a Forbes top 10 list of Most Expensive Celebrity Weddings. They had five children together, but Mitchell filed for divorce in 2005, citing "irreconcilable differences." The actor-comedian made headlines in recent months due to the paternity case between him and former girlfriend, Melanie Brown, who gave birth to their daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown in April.

Eddie began dating Edmonds, the ex-wife of music producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, ten months ago. She had her divorce with Babyface finalized in June.
