Sad to report, but that's it, there won't be a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean", producer Jerry Bruckheimer has stated to Australia's Herald Sun upon being asked about the future of the mega-hit series after "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End." "This is the end," so he told the paper. "This is the end of the trilogy."

Though so, Bruckheimer, however, appears to leave open the coming of any spin-offs of the franchise, saying that it is possible for the moviegoers to see "the characters or a couple of the characters continue on."

"Certainly, in a moment at the end of the film there is a hope that something else might happen," he remarked.

In contrast with the man's resolution to have "Pirates" as a trilogy, star Johnny Depp, on the other hand, reportedly is still eager to get onboard for a fourth film, being said by JimHillMedia.com that he "has told the folk at Walt Disney Studios that he'd be willing to reprise the role of Capt. Jack Sparrow."

Further, the actor himself indeed admits that he is very willing to stay in the series, expressing his intention to do so to Entertainment Weekly magazine.

"As long as you're doing it for the right reasons, why not?" he said to the magazine. "If we came up with a story where we could explore something absurd or funny or totally insane."
