Madonna Rejects Diana Concert

Madonna cannot join the lineup that will perform in Diana Memorial Concert due to prior commitment.

AceShowbiz -

While many artists saying yes to commemorate Princess Diana in her memorial concert, Madonna said otherwise. She had to let go the chance to perform due to commitment in Live Earth.

Composer expert Andrew Lloyd Webber tried to talk her into joining the concert by reprising her role as Evita Peron. She immediately rejected it since she realized it would consume her rehearsal time for Live Earth.

"Live Earth approached Madonna first and she is committed to performing there. It would be extremely hard to rehearse for both gigs at the same time and she wouldn't want to give less than a 100 per cent to either," a source said. "Andrew Lloyd Webber was very understanding when she felt she had to say no."

Diana's Memorial concert will be held July 1 with acts like Kylie Minogue, Take That and Elton John already confirmed. Al Gore's Live Earth concert to fight global warming meanwhile will take place July 7 and had been announced since February 2007.
