Broadening her acting experience, Eva Green has eagerly signed on to take a starring part in "In the Country of the Last Things", a post-apocalyptic drama feature adapted from Paul Auster's novel of the same title, Production Weekly has reported.

Described as a "bleak, post-apocalyptic tale of the world in ruin", the project takes place in an unnamed city where theft is so commonplace it is no longer a crime and strange suicide cults are springing up everywhere. Green will play a woman named Anne Blume who comes to the city in search of her brother and later finds friendship, even love, amid the devastation.

Currently in pre-production, the picture is slated to begin filming in Argentina in English and Spanish this winter with Argentinean filmmaker Alejandro Chomski on board to direct from his own script and Anton Reixa producing while Jose Ibanez will serve as executive producer.
