Born in Japan, she joined Kyoto Animation after graduating from university and quickly distinguished herself as one of the studio’s youngest directors, earning her first major directorial role roughly four years into her career. Yamada first garnered widespread acclaim for directing the beloved series K-On!, which aired from 2009 to 2010.
