Following a pawn shop robbery and car-jacking that has left homeless advocate Karen Rivas dead, Claudette and Dutch head up the investigation as Walon Burke and Vic bet to see who can find the suspect first. With Vic pressing a chop shop owner about the missing car, Tavon takes Shane to alert a shady pawnbroker to the stolen loot. However, when Shane arrests the fence for some unregistered weapons, Tavon complains to Vic, who orders him released. Told that stolen jewelry belonged to Dean Warrison, Vic sets out to find him and his partner, Danielle Riggs. But while Vic's lead fails to materialize, Burke uses the same the tip to find them.
