Chambers Academy is preparing for its first Parents' Night and Dylan has a problem. She doesn't want to be partnered with Max anymore. Too busy to listen, Kristina tells her everything will be fine. That night Kristina greets Dylan's parents, Ron and Susan Jones, just as Dylan tells Max that she's not interested in him "in that way." When Max grabs Dylan's arm, she loses her cool, finally reaching the end of her rope, telling Kristina that this is why she wanted to switch partners! Ron and Susan go on the offensive, demanding Kristina explain why Max has been harassing their daughter. Adam shows up for the tail end of the conversation and quickly escalates it into an argument by accusing the Joneses of misunderstanding the situation because they're always out of town. Ron and Susan walk out in a huff taking Dylan with them.

Ruby gets great news: the girl playing Sandy in her school's production of Grease has the flu, which means Ruby will perform in her place! At the performance, Sarah's stunned to learn the drama teacher also has the flu, so Mark Cyr has taken over for the night. The next day, Sarah tells Hank that maybe he should go that night's performance alone, but he insists she come; it's important to him. That night, Mark approaches Sarah, Hank and Sandy with news: the original Sandy has recovered, so Ruby's not going to perform that night. When Hank and Sandy leave to comfort Ruby, Sarah's left awkwardly alone with Mark. They take a moment to reminisce. It turns out that while Sarah's six months away from becoming a grandmother, Mark's about to become a father - irony or what? Back at home, Hank has a question: does Sarah think her life would be better if she had chosen Mark? Does she really want to be with him instead? That's when Sandy and Ruby blast through the door mid-fight. After Ruby's calmed down, Sarah takes Hank's hand. She's happy, and there's nowhere else she'd rather be.

Zeek has wrangled Drew for another mission. Instead of going for a burger, Zeek pilots Drew back to his dorm room to research a quaint French inn he visited 40 years ago. Now Zeek wants to take Camille back there for their anniversary, but he doesn't have a name or an address. Drew wants to help, but he's concerned - is Zeek allowed to fly? When Drew arrives to pick up Zeek the next day, Camille demands he spill the beans about whatever Zeek's up to. Drew doesn't spill the beans, but he wants to know - can Zeek fly? Luckily, Zeek finds a matchbook for the café across the street from the inn - which they discover is named Chez Marie. Zeek wants Drew to book tickets immediately, but Drew refuses; he couldn't lie to Camille, so he told her Zeek was trying to fly somewhere. Devastated, Zeek asks Drew to take him home. He chose Drew because he trusted him, and this could be his last chance to take a trip... Back at home, Zeek unloads on Camille, feeling sore that everyone's spying on him. Camille wants to know where Zeek was planning to fly, so he tells her about his surprise plans to take her to France. Touched beyond words, Camille promises they'll go as soon as Zeek's doctor clears him to fly. She doesn't need to be surprised; looking forward to the trip together works much better for her.

At work, Julia tells Chris that she's having lunch with Joel, in hopes he'll finally sign the divorce papers. It's time to stop treading water. Joel selects the restaurant where they had their first date, and quickly falls to reminiscing about his dreams for them as a couple. Now he's finally ready to take responsibility for walking out and failing Julia. For as long as they're still married, he's going to do everything in his power to uphold their vows; he's never stopped loving her. When Joel proposes a second time, a speechless Julia stands up and leaves. Back at the office, Julia tells Chris that she needs more time, but his patience has worn thin. He suspects she's still in love with Joel, so when Julia asks him to stop pressuring her, he agrees - all the pressure is off. That night, Julia visits her mother to explain the situation. For the first time in her marriage, she and Joel were really tested. She needed Joel and he was weak. Camille's advice: marriage is about forgiveness. Later, Julia stops by Joel's with the divorce papers. She signs, then holds out the pen to Joel, but he can't do it. Rather than sign, he takes Julia in his arms - looks like their marriage isn't over yet.

Kristina calls Dylan into her office to apologize for not protecting her. Dylan understands that Max can't help it, but the truth is, her parents want to take her out of Chambers Academy. They don't understand that it's the first school in five years that's working for her. Tearing up, Kristina promises she'll do whatever she can to help. After school, Adam and Kristina sit down with Max for a talk about the scale of affection - it's about boundaries. Max has to pay more attention to the feedback he's getting from other people, so he can figure out their boundaries. Later that night, Adam, Kristina and Max visit the Joneses to apologize and explain. When Ron asks what they intend to do to make the situation right, Max steps up, impressing Dylan and her parents with his understanding and regret for his actions. It's enough to keep Dylan in school for the rest of the year.

Zeek wakes up in the middle of the night in the grip of pain. He wakes Camille; it's time to call 911...
