Lipstick Jungle Episode 1.04 Chapter Four: Bombay Highway

Hector has alerted Nico that Kirby Atwood has filed a sexual harrassement claim against her. Nico denies knowing him, prompting Hector to employ the legal department to handle the situation. After Wendy, Nico and Victory finish screening Parador Pictures' new feature Bombay Highway, Nico blurts out that she is sleeping with Kirby, a 25 year old, and that he has accused her of sexual harassment.

After Nico's bombshell, the women retreat to a local bar to discuss the affair in more detail. Wendy is concerned about Nico's relationship with Charles. Nico ensures them that she is not in love with Kirby and that the affair is over. Victory is saddened and angry by this development, telling them that they were her role models for the perfect marriages. Nico is trying to figure out why Kirby would want to hurt her, and doesn't want to deal with the effects this affair might have on her relationship with Charles.

After Wendy and Victory leave Nico for the night, Wendy returns home to Shane, who is doing the laundry. Taking advantage of a quiet house, the two of them decide to test out the spin cycle. Joe pays Victory a visit at home to find out where they stand. Victory, now hesitant about marriage, questions Joe about why he hasn't been married before. Okay with his answer, she forgives him for wanting to keep things separate from her friends, at least for the time being.

Wendy and Sal are discussing the studio's approach to premiering Bombay Highway. Wendy feels strongly that it should be a huge premiere, while Sal feels differently. Nico enters Hector's office and learns that Kirby has turned down the settlement, leading Hector to question her about his potential motives. At home, Wendy and the family share a take-out dinner and watch an interview with Chloe, Bombay Highway's star. Chloe is asked who she will be wearing at the premiere. Wendy immediately calls Victory to design a one-of-a-kind dress.

Nico walks into her office and is greeted by the Bonfire attorney who is dealing with Kirby's claim. Apparently there is a witness who has come forward, saying that Nico and Kirby were talking at the Web launch party and that he followed her into the restroom. The attorney has drafted a statement for Nico to sign, stating that Kirby made an unwanted sexual advance and after she rejected him, he filed the suit. Nico wants to review the statement before signing. Out of desperation, she calls Kirby, but when he answers, she hangs up.

While shopping for fabric to make Chloe's dress, Victory sees a reporter who gave her latest fashion show a negative review. Roy, her assistant, encourages her to face the woman. After a brief exchange in which Victory lets the woman know that she is designing for Chloe, they leave. In the elevator, Wendy and Nico have an exchange about the Kirby situation. Wendy encourages her to sign the statement and save her marriage and career.

Nico pays Charles a visit near the campus where he teaches. While at lunch, a student, Megan, stops by to drop off a paper she owes Charles. When Charles steps away for a moment, Nico opens up her folder and signs the statement, as Wendy suggested.

Victory is sewing in her kitchen and Joe tries to pull her away for lunch. After she shows Joe the dress for Chloe and his only comment is "cute," she tosses it out and decides to start from scratch. Nico arrives back at the Bonfire offices ready to turn in the signed statement. She runs into Mike Harness in the hallway and he makes a comment about her "liking the young ones." Nico suspects someone has leaked the sexual harassment story.

Wendy and Sal discuss the costs and details of the premiere. Wendy tries to sell him on her choices for the party. Nico confronts Hector and the Bonfire attorney about Mike Harness' knowledge of the suit. Wendy pays Victory a visit to check on Chloe's dress; she is underwhelmed. While there, they discuss Nico and her "situation." Victory is still really upset about it, and Wendy reminds her that Nico can't lose them as friends, and that it's important to be there for her.

Nico pays Kirby a visit at his new job as a bartender. She asks him for some insight into his decision to file the suit. Kirby implies that there may have been other people she has had affairs with. After taking a shot of whisky, she leaves visibly upset, realizing that Mike Harness put those thoughts in Kirby's head. Meanwhile, Victory has dressed Chloe, who is upset because her boyfriend just broke up with her. Victory has talked her into going to the premiere despite her reluctance.

Wendy is getting a rundown of the party from her assistant Josh. When he alerts her to the Chloe breakup, she tells him to get Chloe's limo driver to bring her in another entrance and avoid the red carpet. Wendy drops by Nico's office after Nico tells her that Mike Harness put Kirby up to the lawsuit. Nico is worried that Charles will hear about it from somewhere else and knows she has to deal with it sooner rather than later.

Victory is getting ready for the premiere party when Wendy calls. Victory assures her that all of her changes were made to Chloe's dress, as requested. When Victory next sees Chloe, she is looking for a drink, visibly upset. Apparently the conversation with her ex didn't go well. Nico and Charles are getting ready for the premiere party when the student Megan calls and leaves a message on their personal phone.

Victory is giving Wendy an update on Chloe's drunken state. Victory is begging Wendy to have Chloe walk the red carpet, which she needs for exposure. Nico and Charles are having a drink at the premiere party when Hector stops by to deliver the news to Nico, privately, that Kirby has dropped the suit. Charles ends up leaving the party early, but Nico decides to stay. Hector is chatting with Wendy and Shane when her assistant steps in, letting her know that Chloe is waiting in the limo to do the red carpet. Once Wendy joins them in the limo, she and Victory have it out regarding Chloe's condition. When Wendy and Victory step out of the limo, Chloe gets a peek of her ex-boyfriend on the red carpet with a new woman.

Chloe gets behind the wheel of the parked limo and causes an accident in front of the red carpet. After being arrested for a DWI, she is taken to the police station, where she is photographed. Wendy accompanies her to the station, making the appropriate calls, including one to Sal, who lets her know that people will definitely be talking about her movie, thanks to Chloe's incident.

At the police station, Wendy asks Chloe to walk out the front door and talk to press, giving her a chance to tell them she is wearing Victory Ford. At home, Wendy and Shane share a bottle of wine when she receives a text from Victory thanking her for the publicity. Nico goes to see Kirby, asking him why he dropped the charges. After he tells her it's because he wants her, they walk off hand-in-hand.
