AceShowbiz - Oscar-winning composer Joseph Brooks has been ordered to pay up in his legal battle with a woman who accused him of rape, three months after a Washington state judge awarded the alleged victim a $2 million settlement. The 72 year old, best known for his acclaimed song "You Light Up My Life", is facing 13 charges of sexual assault following claims he molested a string of young hopeful actresses who visited his apartment to audition for screen roles.
He is currently free on $1.25 million bail but he's been forced to dig deep once again to settle the legal action levied against him by Claire Thornhill. She was awarded the $2 million default judgment by a Washington judge in June, but Brooks failed to hand over the money.
Thornhill filed new court papers in a New York court on Friday, September 3 asking officials to enforce the Washington ruling in the Big Apple, where Brooks lives. A Manhattan judge ruled in her favor and Brooks must now settle the debt, reports the New York Post. Brooks has argued his innocence in the 13 charges filed against him.
