AceShowbiz - Blur rocker Alex James almost missed the birth of his fifth child - he had a "high-level cheese meeting" on the day his wife was due to deliver. The bassist owns a dairy farm and concentrates on his cheese-making business during his time away from the Britpop band.
His wife, Claire, gave birth to their fifth child, daughter Beatrix, earlier this year - but the delivery did not go as planned. Claire had still not given birth two weeks after her due date, but when doctors gave her an appointment for the delivery to be induced, James announced he would be busy with a business meeting that day.
He tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "I said, 'Claire, this is the fifth, you'll be fine.'" But after some stern words from his wife and his mother - who branded him an "idiot" - James gave in and cancelled the meeting so he could attend the birth.
Claire adds, "He had to work it out for himself that it's the one time nobody else will do."
