AceShowbiz - Director Tim Burton is set to tackle another beloved Disney fairytale - he's in talks to revamp "Sleeping Beauty" as a live-action picture. The moviemaker's new version of "Alice in Wonderland", starring Johnny Depp, hits cinemas later this year, 2010, and he's already planning his next imaginative spectacular.
Burton has set his sights on bringing Disney's 1959 animated classic "Sleeping Beauty" to life as a major motion picture, according to Aintitcool.com. The website reports Burton wants to re-title the story and focus on the film's dark fairy villain Maleficent, who lures the princess to 100 years of slumber. The Sleeping Beauty fairy tale was created by French author Charles Perrault.
