AceShowbiz - Synapse Films has set an October 13 release date for Frankenhooker on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, bringing the cult horror-comedy back to physical media in a new high-definition presentation.
The 4K UHD edition features an all-new 2025 Dolby Vision 4K restoration sourced from archival uncut original 35mm vault materials. The Blu-ray edition presents the complete 85-minute uncut feature in its acclaimed new 2025 restoration, marking the film's return to Blu-ray.
Directed by Frank Henenlotter, Frankenhooker stars James Lorinz, Patty Mullen and Louise Lasser. The cast also includes Shirley Stoler, John Zacherle, Lia Chang, Charlotte Kemp, Jennifer Delora and Heather Hunter.
The film is described as a blend of over-the-top horror, dark comedy and practical effects, and a staple of '90s cult cinema. Henenlotter's other credits include Basket Case and Brain Damage.
Lasser is known for her work on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, while Stoler was previously seen in The Honeymoon Killers. Lorinz previously appeared in King of New York, while Mullen was seen in Doom Asylum and was named Penthouse Pet of the Year. Chang has appeared in Big Trouble in Little China, Kemp was Playboy's Playmate of the Month for December 1982, and Delora appeared in Robot Holocaust.
