AceShowbiz - Jay-Z is set to star in an upcoming eight-part documentary series titled JAŸ-Z In 8, which will premiere on HBO this fall. Directed by renowned producer Rick Rubin, the series will offer an intimate look at Jay-Z's music, lyrics, life journey, and creative process through detailed conversations.
This collaboration marks a reunion for Jay-Z and Rick Rubin, who previously worked together over 20 years ago when Rubin produced the hit "99 Problems" on Jay-Z's 2003 album, The Black Album. The documentary is produced by Tetragrammaton and executive produced by Jay-Z, actor Daniel Kaluuya, and Rick Rubin, with Leila Mattimore and David Rohde as producers.
The release of JAŸ-Z In 8 coincides with a landmark year for the Roc Nation founder. In 2026, Jay-Z is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint through worldwide performances and special events.
In May, Jay-Z made a significant return to live performances as the headliner at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. His setlist spanned his entire career and included both major hits and deeper album tracks. The Philadelphia event featured guest appearances from artists such as Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, Jazmine Sullivan, Bilal, and Young Gunz.
The celebration will continue with a three-night residency at Yankee Stadium in July. The first night on July 10 will focus on Reasonable Doubt, followed by a July 11 concert highlighting The Blueprint. The final night on July 12 will showcase the biggest hits from across Jay-Z's catalog.
Looking beyond the U.S., the anniversary festivities will extend internationally this fall, with two additional performances branded as "Jay-Z 30." These will begin on September 10 in Paris and conclude on October 23 in Los Angeles.
