AceShowbiz - The teaser trailer for the upcoming R-rated comedy Idiots has been officially released, showcasing a chaotic and intense journey starring Dave Franco and O'Shea Jackson Jr.. The film follows the misadventures of two reluctant partners tasked with driving a wealthy, troubled teenager to rehab, only to encounter a series of unexpected and dangerous situations along the way.
The trailer opens with Jackson Jr.'s character, Davis, standing beside a vehicle marked with the logo of Dorindo Services. Inside the car sits Sheridan Kimberley, the rich teenager they are transporting. Soon after, Franco's character, Mark, enters the scene limping and leaning against the car. The footage quickly shifts through fast-paced and intense moments, including Mark vomiting, a police officer examining Davis’ pupils with a flashlight, and the duo being threatened at gunpoint by a menacing figure named Koko, who fires warning shots into the air.
Additional scenes reveal Davis discovering a frightened woman kneeling beside an unconscious man, while tension escalates with Mark handing keys to Davis and urging, "Let's finish this." The trailer also features Mark slapping Sheridan, drug use, gunfights, and Sheridan appearing with a bloody mouth inside the car. The teaser closes with Sheridan questioning their fate, asking, "So what now, idiots?" to which Davis sharply retorts, "Sheridan, shut the f*** [up]."
Idiots boasts an ensemble cast alongside Franco and Jackson Jr., including Mason Thames from How to Train Your Dragon, Kiernan Shipka known for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Nicholas Braun from Succession, and Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones fame. The film is both written and directed by Macon Blair, who is recognized for directing I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore and The Toxic Avenger.
Before teaming up on Idiots, Franco was widely known for his roles in comedies such as Superbad, 21 Jump Street, and Now You See Me, as well as an Emmy-nominated guest appearance on The Studio. Jackson Jr. gained prominence through the biopic Straight Outta Compton. The two actors previously collaborated in the 2021 Roku Channel series The Now, which spanned 14 episodes.
Idiots premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, receiving mostly positive feedback from critics and holding a 73% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on Friday, August 28, 2026, and runs approximately 100 minutes.
The story centers on two down-on-their-luck individuals who accept a dubious job to transport a wealthy but troubled teenager to rehab. What starts as a straightforward task quickly spirals into a series of violent and vulgar escapades, blending dark humor with intense action.
Produced by a team including Alex Orr, Dave Franco, Jeremy Saulnier, Mark Fasano, Brandon James, Nathan Klingher, Ford Corbett, and Macon Blair, Idiots promises a gritty yet comedic experience. Executive producers Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano also contributed to the project, which aims to deliver a fresh take on the road-trip comedy genre.
Fans of Franco and Jackson Jr. can look forward to seeing their chemistry reignited in this provocative film. The teaser sets the tone for a wild, unfiltered adventure packed with sharp dialogue, tense confrontations, and unpredictable twists that highlight the film’s edgy style.
With its mix of comedy, action, and dark themes, Idiots is positioned to be a memorable entry in the R-rated comedy space, appealing to audiences who enjoy films that push boundaries while delivering laughs.
