AceShowbiz - Stewie is set to become the star of a new animated comedy series, as Fox has officially greenlit the spinoff with a two-season order. The show is a fresh addition to the universe created by Seth MacFarlane and 20th Television Animation's Family Guy.

The upcoming series will debut on Fox during the 2027-2028 television season. Fans will be able to watch new episodes on Fox first, with streaming available the next day on Hulu in the United States. International viewers can catch the show on Disney+, continuing the global reach of the franchise.

This marks the second spinoff series from the Family Guy universe, following The Cleveland Show, which aired from 2009 to 2013. The announcement of the Stewie series comes shortly after the premiere of Family Guy's 24th season and its significant milestone of 450 episodes. All episodes of Family Guy remain available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

The storyline of Stewie revolves around the titular character after being expelled from his previous preschool. He enrolls in a less-than-stellar new school populated by odd characters, including a 75-year-old class turtle and teachers who hold unconventional theories on nearly everything. The environment is bleak and dull for everyone, including the turtle, until Stewie, the mad scientist, begins deploying his inventive gadgets. The series promises to follow the children on thrilling adventures through space and time, turning otherwise monotonous school days into extraordinary escapades.

Seth MacFarlane, co-creator of the series, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “I'd like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I'm excited to start pretending I'm collaborating closely with them on the show.”

MacFarlane will continue to provide the voice for Stewie and serve as executive producer through his production company, Fuzzy Door, alongside executive producer Kara Vallow.

Seth MacFarlane has been a significant figure at Fox for many years. Family Guy stands as one of the longest-running adult animated comedies, only surpassed by The Simpsons and South Park. In the previous year alone, MacFarlane’s collection of television shows and films amassed over 60 billion streaming minutes across various platforms, equating to roughly 116,000 years of viewing time.
