AceShowbiz - Karol G made history as the first Latina to headline Coachella on Sunday, delivering a memorable set that has significantly boosted her Spotify streaming numbers.
Karol G’s global Spotify streams jumped by 14.3 percent following her performance, but the impact was even more pronounced in the U.S., where her streams surged by 35 percent. This shows a strong connection between the Colombian artist and American audiences. Additionally, her curated playlist "This Is Karol G" experienced an impressive rise, with U.S. streams increasing by 190 percent and global streams up 60 percent.
The artist’s Coachella set included 20 songs, featuring fan favorites like "TQG" and "Amargura." The show was elevated by special guest appearances from Mariah Angeliq, who joined her for the hit "El Makinon," and Becky G, who performed a mariachi version of "Mamii" alongside Karol G. The performance also marked the live debut of her new collaboration with Greg Gonzalez from Cigarettes After Sex, titled "Después de Ti."
Karol G’s stage design was elaborate and unique, featuring a cave-inspired setup, a giant Macaw bird, and an illuminated pool. The complexity of the stage caused a delay, prompting her to shorten the performance of "Si Antes te Hubiera Conocido" to make room for "Provenza." This track was originally introduced during her 2022 Coachella set and created a standout moment complete with fireworks and vibrant lighting effects.
The strategy paid off as the "Provenza" remix featuring Tiesto saw the most significant spike in her catalog, with streams climbing 139 percent after the show. This surge highlights how Karol G continues to captivate audiences and expand her reach through powerful live performances and strategic releases.
