AceShowbiz - The artist once known as Heeseung has embarked on a fresh chapter in his music career by adopting a new stage name, Evan. On April 8, Heeseung officially announced this rebranding as he prepares to launch his solo endeavors.

In a heartfelt statement, Evan revealed that the name holds deep personal significance: "EVAN is a name I've cherished since childhood, one that holds many of my most precious memories." He expressed his desire to connect with fans through music that authentically reflects his honest and natural self.

Marking this new beginning, Evan shared the first images of his solo concept on a freshly created Instagram account, @h_evva_n. According to a press release from HYBE label Belift Lab, the minimalist portraits present him with a raw and understated charisma, capturing an artist at the very start of his individual identity before outside definitions are applied. His own caption was succinct, simply reading, "#Evan."

The announcement followed a major shift in Heeseung's career path. On March 10, Belift Lab revealed that he would be departing from the six-member boy group Enhypen after six years but would continue under the label as a solo artist. The label explained that this change was made after thorough consideration, recognizing that Heeseung has a unique musical vision that differs from the group’s direction.

In a handwritten letter posted on Weverse, Heeseung shared that this decision was reached after deep reflection. He acknowledged his strong attachment to Enhypen, describing his time with the group as some of the brightest memories of his life. He emphasized his commitment to supporting the remaining members as a dedicated fan, even as he pursues his own solo projects that he had been reluctant to showcase while part of the group.

Despite the official statements, some fans expressed uncertainty about whether Heeseung truly wanted to leave Enhypen. In response to the news, protest trucks and some in-person demonstrators appeared outside HYBE’s headquarters, voicing their opposition. Additionally, a petition demanding that Heeseung both release solo music and remain in Enhypen gathered over 2 million signatures.

Nevertheless, both Heeseung and Belift Lab seem committed to this new arrangement, hoping it will allow him to flourish as Evan and offer his fans a more authentic and personal musical experience.
