AceShowbiz - The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards ceremony held at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday celebrated outstanding achievements in music supervision and songwriting across film, television, documentaries, advertising, trailers, and video games.
Raphael Saadiq emerged as a standout winner of the night, not only performing live but also receiving the prestigious Icon Award. Saadiq's song I Lied to You from the film Sinners earned the award for Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film, highlighting his dual role as a songwriter and performer. The song was co-written with composer Ludwig Göransson and performed by Miles Caton.
Sinners also secured the Best Music Supervision in Major Budget Films award, presented to music supervisor Niki Sherrod. The film’s success was a central highlight of the evening, underlining its strong musical direction and songwriting quality.
Other winners in the film music supervision categories included Marty Supreme, which took Best Music Supervision in Mid-Level Budget Films thanks to Gabe Hilfer’s work. The low budget category was won by One of Them Days, supervised by Sarah Bromberg and Stephanie Diaz-Matos, while Frankie Pine won Best Music Supervision in a Non-Theatrically Released Film for Nonnas.
In television, the Best Song Written and/or Recorded for Television award was claimed by Thom Yorke for his song Dialing In from the show Smoke. The music supervision for this project was led by Mary Ramos. Yorke’s distinctive style was a highlight of the ceremony, marking a significant achievement in the TV category.
Television music supervision honors were awarded to Tiffany Anders for Best Music Supervision in a Television Drama for The Lowdown (Season 1), Gabe Hilfer for Best Music Supervision in a Television Comedy with The Studio (Season 1), and the trio Meryl Ginsberg, Sara Torres, and Jordan Young for Best Music Supervision in Reality Television for Love Island USA (Season 7).
The event featured memorable performances, including Saadiq’s live rendition of I Lied to You alongside Ludwig Göransson and singer/guitarist Brittany Howard. Additional performances included Diane Warren, Sharon Farber, and Eden Kontesz performing the nominated track Dear Me from Diane Warren: Relentless. Keith Secola performed NDN Kars from Dark Winds, and Cris Chil presented 15K. John Tesh contributed during the Sponsor Showcase, and Alejandro Aranda paid tribute to the late music supervisor Robin Kaye, who received the posthumous Legacy Award.
Documentary music supervision awards went to Amanda Clemens and Jody Colero for Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery in the film category, and Deborah Mannis-Gardner for Hip Hop Was Born Here (Season 1) in the docuseries category.
Advertising categories honored work such as Nellie Rajabi and Jonathan Wellbelove’s supervision for Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro | The Ultimate Pro campaign in the Synch category, Patrick Lawrence Zappia’s work on Gap’s Give Your Gift. (2025) for Original Music, and Julian Drucker’s supervision for Yogi Tea’s The Theory of Spice in Long-Form advertising.
Trailer music supervision awards recognized Adam Konger, Sanaz Lavaedian, and Marina Polites for the film trailer One Battle After Another (Official Trailer 2), Scenery Samundra and Gregory Sweeney for The White Lotus Season 3 Official Trailer, and Megan Barbour and Naaman Snell for the Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 2: Lawless cinematic gameplay trailer.
In the video game category, Allison Wood won Best Music Supervision in a Video Game (Synch) for NASCAR 2025, while Hideo Kojima, with composers Ludvig Forssell and Woodkid, took Best Music Supervision in a Video Game (Original Music) for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards highlighted the vital role of music supervision and songwriting in enhancing the storytelling and emotional impact of diverse media. The evening was marked by exceptional talent and collaboration across the music and entertainment industries.
