AceShowbiz - The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has arrived on home video formats today, bringing the underwater adventure to DVD, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray Steelbook editions. The Blu-ray Steelbook is available exclusively at Walmart.

Directed by Derek Drymon, the film follows SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends as they set sail on an adventure. When an attempt to prove he's a true big guy accidentally summons the ghost pirate The Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob and Patrick are swept into an underworld quest.

The voice cast includes Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, George Lopez, Isis 'Ice Spice' Gaston, Arturo Castro, and Sherry Cola, with Regina Hall and Mark Hamill also lending their voices to the production.

The home video release comes packed with bonus features for fans. Special featurettes include "The SpongeBob Ensemble: The Veteran Voices," which showcases returning cast members in the voiceover booths, and "The SpongeBob Ensemble: The New Crew," highlighting new cast members during recording sessions.

Additional bonus content explores the film's animation and production process. "The Flying Dutchman: Animated Artistry + Live Acting" features cast and crew discussing the creation of the ghost pirate character, while "From Bikini Bottom To The Underworld" gives production designers a chance to explain their work animating the Underworld sequences.

The release also includes the music video for "Big Guy" by Gaston, who performed under her stage name Ice Spice for the film's soundtrack. An official trailer has been released showcasing the adventure and voice performances.

Distributed by Paramount Pictures Corporation, the PG-rated animation falls into the family genre. The film represents another entry in the SpongeBob franchise, bringing the beloved characters to a new adventure that takes them beyond their familiar Bikini Bottom setting.
