AceShowbiz - Michael B. Jordan is poised to return to the big screen with his first project following his acclaimed role in Sinners. Netflix has officially announced the release date for Michael B. Jordan's upcoming animated feature, Swapped, which will debut on the streaming platform on May 1, 2026. Alongside this news, Netflix also unveiled new images from the film.
Swapped is an animated adventure that centers on a woodland mammal, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who magically switches places with a striking bird character voiced by actress Juno Temple. Despite their species being natural adversaries, the two must navigate their new realities and work together to undo the unexpected swap.
The newly released visuals highlight the camaraderie between the mammal and bird characters and also feature various families from their respective worlds. These images showcase a vibrant and visually captivating aesthetic.
Produced by Skydance Animation, Swapped follows the company’s previous collaboration with Netflix on the fantasy musical Spellbound. This film marks Michael B. Jordan's first voice acting role in a feature film since lending his voice to Cyborg in the DC Animated Movie Universe’s Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.
Directed by Nathan Greno, known for helming Disney’s Tangled, Swapped's screenplay is penned by John Whittington, who worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog film series, along with Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow. The story credits include Whittington, Magalhaes, Snow, Adam Karp, and Greno.
Along with Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple, the voice cast features notable talents such as Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, Lolly Adefope, and Táta Vega.
Michael B. Jordan currently has two major projects lined up, with Swapped being the first. The other project is a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, in which he will not only star but also direct and produce.
