AceShowbiz - Annie Weisman, the creator behind Physical and Imperfect Women, is renewing her collaboration with Apple TV through a new first-look deal. This multi-year agreement grants Apple TV the priority to consider any new series projects developed by Weisman.
This deal represents a continued partnership, following Weisman’s previous overall deal with the streamer several years ago. The timing of this agreement is notable as it coincides with the upcoming launch of Imperfect Women, which is set to premiere on March 18 on Apple TV.
Imperfect Women stars Kerry Washington, Elisabeth Moss, and Kate Mara, and is adapted from a novel by Araminta Hall. The series explores a crime that disrupts a deep friendship among the three main characters. Weisman adapted Hall’s book for the screen and serves as the showrunner for the series.
In addition to Imperfect Women, Weisman also created the critically acclaimed Apple TV series Physical. That show, starring Rose Byrne as a woman discovering her passion amid the 1980s aerobics craze, ran for three seasons and received two Emmy nominations.
Beyond her work with Apple TV, Weisman has served as showrunner for the second season of Peacock’s comic thriller Based on a True Story and Fox’s Almost Family. She has writing and producing credits on Hulu’s The Path as well as ABC’s Suburgatory and Desperate Housewives. Her writing career began on Showtime’s cult series Dead Like Me.
Alongside her television accomplishments, Weisman is also an accomplished playwright, with works including Be Aggressive, Hold Please, The Essential Alice, and Surf Report. She is represented by WME and Gendler Kelly.
