AceShowbiz - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms achieved its highest viewership numbers with the season finale that aired on February 22, according to HBO. The episode attracted 9.5 million viewers in the United States within its first three days of release, marking the largest audience for the series so far.
The six-episode season has generally seen steady weekly growth in viewers, except for a dip caused by an early release of episode four during the Super Bowl weekend. Since its premiere on January 18, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has averaged 14 million U.S. viewers across all platforms and reached 26 million worldwide.
HBO tracks viewing data for 90 days after a show's debut, so these numbers are expected to increase further. As is typical with HBO programming, the vast majority of viewers watched A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms via streaming on HBO Max. For example, the season finale’s first airing on HBO’s cable channel attracted only 626,000 viewers, with replays adding a smaller audience. The streaming platform accounted for an estimated 90 percent or more of the total 9.5 million viewers over three days.
The continued success of this spinoff highlights the enduring popularity of the Game of Thrones universe for HBO. In 2024, House of the Dragon averaged over 25 million viewers in the U.S. during its second season, a slight decrease from the 29 million average for season one. Although A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms focuses on a smaller scale story derived from George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, it has still secured the position as the third largest debut season on HBO Max since the platform launched, trailing only House of the Dragon and The Last of Us.
HBO has already greenlit a second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is expected to premiere in 2027.
