AceShowbiz - ABC has begun shaping its scripted lineup for the 2026-27 television season by renewing three of its most popular dramas: 911, its spinoff 911: Nashville, and High Potential. These series are among the network's highest-rated scripted offerings this year, reflecting strong audience engagement.
911 will return for its 10th overall season and fourth season on ABC, having originally aired six seasons on Fox. Meanwhile, High Potential is set to enter its third season, and 911: Nashville will begin its second season during the upcoming broadcast year.
A significant change is underway for High Potential, as Todd Harthan will step down as showrunner to concentrate on developing the upcoming Eragon series for Disney+, based on Christopher Paolini’s novels. Harthan will maintain credits as co-creator alongside Paolini and will continue to run the show with Todd Helbing. Both series are produced by 20th Television, where Harthan holds an overall deal.
High Potential continues to be ABC’s most-watched show for the second consecutive year. Starring Kaitlin Olson, the procedural drama averages 12.67 million viewers when including streaming and delayed viewing, ranking second among all network series (excluding sports and news) for the 2025-26 season. It also leads all broadcast shows in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.36 rating.
The two 911 series also perform exceptionally well in the key adults 18-49 demographic rankings. The flagship 911 holds an 8th place spot with a 1.38 rating, while 911: Nashville ranks 12th with a 1.13 rating. Additionally, 911 ranks among the top 20 series in total viewers, drawing an average of 7.82 million.
Executive producers for both 911 shows include Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Tim Minear, and Brad Buecker. For the original 911, additional executive producers are lead actress Angela Bassett, John J. Gray, Lyndsey Beaulieu, Ted Griffen, and Robert M. Williams. On 911: Nashville, executive producers include Rashad Raisani, star Chris O'Donnell, and Angela Bassett.
High Potential is executive produced by series creator Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, along with Todd Harthan, Marc Halsey, and Kaitlin Olson. This team maintains the show's strong creative vision as it moves forward into its next season.
With these renewals, ABC continues to invest in proven scripted hits, securing a strong foundation for its 2026-27 lineup and promising viewers more compelling storytelling from these beloved dramas.
