AceShowbiz - Patience has achieved a major international breakthrough as Beta Film secures sales of the British Channel 4 drama to 100 territories worldwide.
The acclaimed series has been picked up by AMC Networks for Latin America, ABC in Australia, and BBC Brit across Africa. European broadcasters acquiring the show include RAI in Italy, ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany, VRT in Belgium, TET in Latvia, and Telia in Estonia. Asian networks NOW TV Hong Kong, NHK Japan, and Ajara TV in Georgia have also obtained rights. Earlier deals cover Scandinavia, Spain, New Zealand, and other regions, underscoring the series’ broad appeal.
Produced by Eagle Eye Drama alongside Beta Film, Patience Season 2 continues to solidify its success. It stands as Channel 4’s most-watched show across both linear and streaming platforms since its return. The premiere episode drew a 28-day audience of 4.2 million viewers, with streaming minutes rising 38% year-on-year. This represents an 18% increase compared to the launch of Season 1.
In the United States, Patience ranked among the most popular series of 2025 on PBS’s digital platforms, expanding its international footprint.
Set in the historic city of York, Season 2 follows the young police archivist Patience Evans, played by Ella Maisy Purvis. She is joined by Detective Frankie Monroe, a new team lead portrayed by BAFTA winner Jessica Hynes (known for Miss Austen and The Franchise). Their contrasting approaches to crime-solving create tension and require both characters to adapt as they investigate complex cases.
With a third season recently approved, production for Patience Season 3 is scheduled to begin this spring in Belgium and York. Returning cast members include Ella Maisy Purvis, Jessica Hynes, Nathan Welsh (Trying, Domina), Mark Benton (Bookish, Inside No. 9), Adrian Rawlins (Inspector Barnaby, Slow Horses), Tom Lewis (Gentlemen Jack), Ali Ariaie (The Great, The Couple Next Door - Deadly Attraction), and Liza Sadovy (Outlander, A Real Pain).
Behind the camera, Maarten Moerkerke (Professor T) returns as director, joined by Jan Matthys (Outlander). Lead writer Matt Baker (Season 1) will collaborate with Amy Shindler and Beth Chalmers, who spearheaded Season 2’s writing team.
Executive producers Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino oversee all seasons. Distribution is handled globally by Beta Film, with PBS Distribution managing North American rights to the series.
