AceShowbiz - Margo's Got Money Troubles is an upcoming Apple Original series that has just released its full trailer, showcasing a star-studded cast and a gripping story. The eight-episode series, set to debut worldwide on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, will launch with three episodes, followed by weekly new episodes every Wednesday until May 20, 2026.
The show is produced by A24 and created by the multi-Emmy Award-winning writer and executive producer David E. Kelley. It is based on the best-selling novel by Rufi Thorpe. The series features Elle Fanning, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman.
In the story, Pfeiffer portrays Shyanne, a former Hooter's waitress and mother of Fanning’s character, Margo. When Shyanne discovers that Margo is pregnant with her professor’s child—a professor played by Michael Angarano who is involved in an extramarital affair—she reacts with a mix of surprise and frustration. Shyanne exclaims, "You were gonna be somebody!" as she processes the news.
Margo decides to leave college to raise her son, Bodhi, on her own, forcing her to find unconventional ways to support her child and cover rent. She turns to OnlyFans, enlisting the help of a unique support team: her father, Dr. Jinx, played by Nick Offerman, a former professional wrestler, and her roommate Susie, portrayed by Thaddea Graham.
Offerman’s character offers guidance but with a humorous warning: "I'm happy to guide you along, but the second that you start to do any more of your—you know—sexy things, I'll just take the baby with me." This mix of humor and heartfelt moments highlights the series’ tone as it explores Margo’s journey.
The narrative builds toward a tense confrontation between Margo and Mark (Angarano), with Kidman playing the role of a lawyer mediating their dispute. In a pivotal scene, Kidman’s character tells Margo after an outburst, "You will not be one of them," referring to people who need to apologize.
The series also features acclaimed actors including Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden, Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear, alongside rising stars Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington.
Margo's Got Money Troubles is produced by Apple TV in collaboration with A24. David E. Kelley serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, working alongside Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures; Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films; and Matthew Tinker of David E. Kelley Productions. Pfeiffer, author Rufi Thorpe, Eva Anderson, and Boo Killebrew also hold executive producer credits.
The pilot episode is directed by Dearbhla Walsh, a BAFTA and Emmy Award winner, who also acts as an executive producer. Additional episodes are helmed by directors Kate Herron and Alice Seabright, ensuring a diverse creative vision throughout the series.
This series marks the latest collaboration between Kelley and Apple TV, following their Emmy-nominated global hit drama Presumed Innocent, which is currently in production for its second season. Margo's Got Money Troubles promises to deliver a compelling blend of drama and dark comedy, with a talented ensemble cast and a timely story about resilience and unconventional family dynamics.
