AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for the much-anticipated new chapter in the Scary Movie 6 franchise, marking a fresh entry in the popular horror comedy series.

This installment notably brings back the Wayans Bros.—Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans—collaborating for the first time in 18 years to write the script. It is the first film following Scary Movie 5, which debuted in 2013. Alongside the brothers, Rick Alvarez also serves as a producer, while Michael Tiddes directs the project.

The newly unveiled trailer lampoons a variety of recent horror hits, parodying titles such as Sinners, Weapons, The Substance, and Netflix’s Wednesday. It opens with a humorous take on the Ghostface subway scene from Scream 6, featuring a host of costumed killers, including a dancing robot character named "Megan."

Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans reunite with returning stars Regina Hall and Anna Faris to face off against Ghostface, while also poking fun at films like Get Out, Smile, Terrifier, and Longlegs. This blend of satire pays homage to horror’s recent trends and iconography.

Other cast members reprising their roles include Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Jon Abrahams, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott. New additions to the franchise are Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, "Saturday Night Live" alum Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke.

The original Scary Movie film, released in 2000, was a major box office success, grossing $42.5 million during its opening weekend. It held the record for the biggest debut for an R-rated horror film and was a milestone for films directed by Black filmmakers at the time. The Wayans Bros. were instrumental in developing the franchise, with Keenen Ivory Wayans writing and directing the first two movies, while Marlon and Shawn Wayans contributed as writers and stars.

Miramax is producing Scary Movie 6, with Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thom Zadra as executive producers. In a first-look deal with Miramax, Paramount Pictures will distribute the film worldwide, aiming for a release date of June 12.
