AceShowbiz - Big Mistakes is set to debut on Netflix on April 9, introducing viewers to a fresh family crime comedy created by Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott. The streaming giant has unveiled the first trailer and exclusive images, offering a glimpse into the show's quirky and chaotic world.
The series stars Dan Levy, Taylor Ortega, and Laurie Metcalf, alongside a supporting cast including Abby Quinn, Boran Kuzum, Jack Innanen, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Ivanir, Ilia Volok, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara, and Darren Goldstein. Levy also serves as the showrunner, overseeing the creative direction of the project.
Big Mistakes centers on siblings Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Ortega), who find themselves in over their heads after a botched theft intended to help their dying grandmother inadvertently pulls them into a criminal underworld. Forced into dangerous and increasingly complicated assignments through blackmail, the pair bumble their way deeper into organized crime, creating a mix of dark humor and family dynamics.
In the days leading up to the announcement, Netflix teased the series with a mysterious billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The billboard featured a diamond necklace spelling out "4.9.26" without context. Later, Netflix posted an augmented reality video showing the necklace being "stolen" from the billboard. Shortly after, selfies of Levy, Ortega, Metcalf, Quinn, Kuzum, and Innanen wearing the necklace revealed them as the culprits behind the staged heist. This marketing campaign culminated in the official release date and the promise of a trailer the following day.
Big Mistakes represents the first series from Dan Levy’s overall television deal with Netflix. It is his second original scripted series following the Emmy-winning success of Schitt’s Creek. In 2023, Levy expanded his creative partnership with Netflix by making his feature directorial debut with Good Grief, which he wrote and starred in alongside Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel, and Luke Evans.
Alongside Levy and Sennott as creators and executive producers, Anne-Marie McGintee executive produces for Not a Real Production Company. Dean Holland directs the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer, joined by Etan Frankel and Timothy Greenberg.
Big Mistakes promises a blend of crime and comedy through the eyes of two unlikely siblings navigating a world far beyond their capabilities, delivering a fresh, humorous take on family and crime drama on Netflix this spring.
