AceShowbiz - The upcoming Spider-Noir TV series promises to deliver a fresh take on the Spider-Man mythos by exploring a unique corner of the multiverse. In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, showrunner Oren Uziel clarified how this series differs from previous Spider-Man projects, particularly the acclaimed animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Uziel highlighted that although actor Nic Cage voices the character in both projects, the series offers "a different flavour of that character." He emphasized that the show is not a continuation of the Spider-Verse films but rather an independent interpretation made possible by the multiverse concept.
According to Uziel, launching this version was an opportunity "to make a version of Spider-Man that no-one had ever seen before." This series will also revisit iconic Spider-Man villains like Sandman and Electro, reimagined through the lens of the 1930s.
Uziel expressed enthusiasm about working with Cage, recounting that hearing the actor perform his lines "with pleasure and glee" was one of the most rewarding experiences of his career. The showrunner’s passion reflects the creative ambition behind the project, which explores new narrative territory within the Spider-Man universe.
The series marks a new foray into the live-action franchise. The timing is notable, as the series’ release coincides with the theatrical debut of Tom Holland’s new Spider-Man film titled Brand New Day, set to premiere on July 31, 2026.
Spider-Noir is scheduled to premiere domestically on MGM+ on May 25, 2026, followed by a global launch on Prime Video two days later, on May 27. Fans can expect a distinct and atmospheric entry into the Spider-Man franchise that expands the multiverse narrative in exciting new directions.
