AceShowbiz - Disney+ is moving forward with a new series project focused on one of its classic characters, Tinker Bell. The upcoming show, titled Tink, will explore the story of Peter Pan’s iconic fairy. The series is currently in early development, with no official logline released yet.
The project brings together writers Liz Heldens, known for Will Trent, and Bridget Carpenter, who created 11.22.63. Both will serve as executive producers alongside former Disney Branded Television head Gary Marsh and Quinn Haberman from Heldens’ Selfish Mermaid company. Tink is considered a priority for Disney+, but details remain under wraps as the creative team shapes the series.
Tinker Bell is the tiny fairy from J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan tale, known for her close friendship with Peter and her jealousy toward Wendy Darling when she arrives in Neverland. Since the 1953 animated film, she has become an unofficial Disney mascot, famously appearing in numerous Disney TV show intros and home video title cards.
While Tinker Bell has been the star of several animated movies, a live-action adaptation has yet to materialize. Reese Witherspoon was once linked to a feature film project as the character, but that effort did not advance. The idea of a Tink series has been on Gary Marsh’s agenda for years, becoming one of his first initiatives after departing Disney Branded TV and securing a producing deal with the company.
Heldens and Carpenter have a history of collaboration, having worked together on Friday Night Lights. Heldens currently co-showruns ABC’s Will Trent and has credits including The Dropout and The Orville. Carpenter created Hulu’s 11.22.63 and has contributed to shows like Westworld and Parenthood.
As development progresses, Disney+ subscribers can anticipate the beloved fairy’s story in Tink.
