“Our father, Stephen Hibbert, passed away unexpectedly this week,” his family shared in a statement. They also highlighted that Hibbert led a life filled with love, devotion to the arts, and commitment to his family, adding that he will be deeply missed by many.
Born in Fleetwood, England, Hibbert began his career as a writer for Late Night with David Letterman from 1984 to 1986. He later contributed as a writer to popular TV shows such as Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, Mad TV, and Boy Meets World.
Hibbert also co-wrote the 1994 film It's Pat: The Movie alongside then-wife Julia Sweeney, who created the androgynous character Pat on Saturday Night Live.
In addition to his memorable role in Pulp Fiction, Hibbert appeared in movies like Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and The Cat in the Hat (2003). His on-screen debut occurred in a 1987 episode of Newhart, and he later made guest appearances on TV shows including Just Shoot Me!, Jericho, True Jackson VP, and Dr. Ken.
