AceShowbiz - One month after the passing of Catherine O'Hara, the acclaimed actress received a heartfelt tribute at the 2026 Actor Awards with a posthumous win.
O'Hara was awarded the Actor Award for Female Actor in a Comedy Series, previously known as the Screen Actors Guild Award, for her role as Patty Leigh, the ousted studio head on Apple TV's The Studio.
During the ceremony, series co-creator and star Seth Rogen, who had earlier accepted the Male Actor in a Comedy Series award, took the stage to accept the honor on behalf of O'Hara. The audience responded with a standing ovation, celebrating her remarkable contribution to the show.
Reflecting on his experience working alongside O'Hara, Rogen praised her exceptional qualities, emphasizing her “ability to be generous and kind and gracious while never, ever minimizing her own talents and her own ability to contribute to the work that we were doing.”
He shared that O'Hara was fiercely dedicated to her craft, often sending emails to him and co-creator Evan Goldberg with suggestions that amounted to full rewrites of her upcoming scenes. These changes consistently enhanced not only her character but also the humor and quality of the entire series.
Rogen summarized her unique talent by noting, “She really showed that you can be a genius and be kind, and one of those things does not have to come at the expense of the other in any way, shape, or form.”
O'Hara, known for her iconic performances on SCTV and Schitt's Creek, passed away on January 30 at 71 years old. Reports later confirmed a pulmonary embolism as the immediate cause of death, with rectal cancer identified as the underlying condition.
Fans and colleagues alike can view Rogen’s full tribute to O'Hara as a testament to her enduring legacy and impact on the entertainment industry.
