AceShowbiz - David Boreanaz has been tapped to star in the reboot pilot of NBC's iconic series, The Rockford Files. Known for his role in Bones, Boreanaz will portray Jim Rockford, a character originally brought to life by James Garner in the beloved 1970s detective drama.

This modern adaptation, spearheaded by Mike Daniels of Sons of Anarchy fame, is being described as "a contemporary update on the classic series." The narrative will follow Jim Rockford, who is "newly paroled after doing time for a crime he didn't commit," as he resumes his career as a private investigator in Los Angeles. The original The Rockford Files aired for six successful seasons on NBC from 1974 to 1980, earning multiple Emmy Awards, including Best Drama Series in 1978 and Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Garner in 1976. Garner later reprised his role in several Rockford Files films that aired on CBS throughout the mid-1990s.
